Water

Laguna Water provides its growing number of customers 24/7 water supply that adheres to the Department of Health's Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW). The company also supplies water to various industrial and commercial companies, particularly those located at Laguna Technopark. It also offers bulk supply to water districts, subdivisions, and other commercial customers. Moreover, the largest water service provider in Laguna also has reverse osmosis products and services.

Water Sources

Laguna Water obtains 100% of its raw water from ground water sources. 92% percent of the company’s water supply comes from deep wells dug at 180 meters to reach the aquifer of excellent quality. The remaining 8 percent comes from Matang Tubig Spring situated at Barangay Casile in Cabuyao City.

  • Deep Wells

    Deep Wells

Currently, Laguna Water manages 115 deep wells in Laguna, including those located in Laguna Technopark, Inc.

  • Matang Tubig Spring

Laguna Water also obtains water from a spring water source in Cabuyao, Matang Tubig Spring {MTS). According to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, water from MTS is considered AA quality.

  • Laguna Well Field

    Laguna Well Field

Laguna Well Field, situated at the Laguna Technopark Inc. Annex in Biñan, is one of the largest ground water facilities in the Philippines. It has total area of 10,000 square meters and has a supply capacity of 100 million liters of water per day.

Water Treatment

Laguna Water ensures delivery of safe and clean water to its growing number of customers. Ensuring water quality, Laguna Water’s supply undergoes these processes: sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection/chlorination.

  1. Sedimentation
Raw water passes through large pools called settling basins to remove dirt that sinks. Heavy particles like sand will settle at the bottom of the tanks while the clarified water will be collected.

  2. Filtration
Iron and Manganese are inherent quality issues usually encountered in groundwater sources. Thus, Laguna Water utilizes advanced filtration system which removes these elements that can hinder the disinfection/chlorination process. This system also removes other microscopic contaminants that can cause quality problems.

In some sites, we utilized filters to remove sand in our raw water where small impurities cannot pass through.

  3. Disinfection/Chlorination
After even the smallest impurities have been removed, the water is injected with chlorine to kill any microbes or germs that may contaminate the water.

Water is now safe for drinking and is then sent to distribution by gravity and by pumping.

Water Distribution

Laguna Water’s network and distribution system are composed of transmission lines, distribution lines, and reservoirs all designed to bring potable water to our customers.

Currently, Laguna Water manages over 1048 kilometer mains. Moreover, the company ensures that its services areas have a water supply pressure of 10 psi and above, made possible by the continuous implementation of technical solutions such as network rehabilitation, and supply and pressure management. Average pressure for the entire service coverage is at 20 psi, which is significantly better than the 10 psi regulatory target.

Non-Revenue Water

Laguna Water continuously seeks for ways to further lower its non-revenue water. When the company started in 2009, the non-revenue water in their service areas is at 48%. Committed to improve its operational efficiency, Laguna Water invested in various projects and technologies that will address this concern. Currently, the company’s NRW is at 17%, which is below the global NRW standard of 20%.

Used Water

In response to the need for reliable sanitation and environmental services, Laguna Water launched its Tamang Sanitasyon Equals Kalusugan, Kalinisan, at Kaunlaran ng Bayan (TSEKng Bayan) program. The program offers used water services that include management of sewer network, desludging or cleaning of septic tanks, communal toilet and portable toilet solution, and the treatment of used water. These services are needed to prevent the adverse effects of used water to public health and the environment.

Sewage Management

Sewered systems are best offered to industrial parks, central business districts and high-end gated communities as laying of sewer pipes is more feasible. Through sewer networks, the wastewater directly flows to the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) where it undergoes a cleaning process.

Currently, Laguna Water is managing the sewerage system of Laguna Technopark, Inc. (LTI), where it treats an average of 4.2 million liters of wastewater per day. The domestic wastewater of industrial plants which mostly produce electronic parts, semiconductors, motor components and metal products is conveyed through sewer pipelines to the treatment facility. A biological treatment technology that utilizes aerobic bacteria to degrade the organics in the wastewater is applied in the STP prior being discharged to the Sta. Rosa River.

Desludging Service

Pursuant to Laguna’s Provincial Sewage and Septage Management Ordinance, Laguna Water officially launched its desludging services in September 2018. Through this service, the company’s desludging truck periodically siphons 2/3 of the contents of its customer’s septic tank. The collected waste, known as septage, will be treated at the company-managed Sewage and Septage Treatment Plant in LTI.

Laguna Water has laid out a five year desludging schedule to ensure that all of its customers will be able to avail of the said service. Desludging is one program that would mitigate pollution of our rivers and bodies of water, leading to a healthier and more progressive communities.

Communal Toilet and Portable Toilet Solution

Aiming to provide sanitation for all, Laguna Water is currently conducting studies on the use of a portable toilet technology for toilet-less households in the Province. Further, Laguna Water is also exploring possible partnership with local government units and non-government organizations in providing communal toilets to selected communities in the Province.

LTI Sewage and Septage Treatment Plant

The LTI Sewage and Septage Treatment Plant (LTI SSTP), operated and maintained by Laguna Water, has a treatment capacity of 11 million liters of sewage daily from the various industries in LTI. Further, it can also treat an additional 70 cubic meters of septage per day from communities and establishments in the company’s service areas.

Two treatment technologies are being employed in the LTI SSTP, the Moving Bed Bio-reactor and the Food Chain Reactor.

In the Moving Bed Bio-reactor tank, aerobic bacteria degrades organic pollutants present in the used water through the use of plastic biomedia. The plastic biomedia support biofilm growth for the degradation of organic pollutants by increasing the surface area. Diffused aeration in the MBBR provides oxygen supply to the aerobic bacteria and further promotes homogenous mixing of plastic bio-media.

Laguna Water is the first company to utilize Organica’s Food Chain Reactor (FCR) technology in the Philippines. The FCR technology is a beautiful, odor-free, botanical-garden used water treatment plant that employs more than 3,000 species of aerobic bacteria that thrive on plant roots and engineered patented biofiber media.

Laboratory Services

Ensuring that safe and clean water is delivered to its growing number of customers, Laguna Water has established its own laboratory that conducts water testing and analysis. The laboratory offers the following services: Physical testing and analysis, chemical testing and analysis, and Microbiological testing and analysis. In 2017, the company's laboratory services became the first and only private institution to offer Radiological testing and analysis of drinking water, which is part of the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water.

Laguna Water Laboratory Services uses world-class processes and equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results. To view the different services and packages of Laguna Water Laboratory Services, click here.

Water Quality Reports

To ensure that the water delivered to its customers satisfies regulatory standards on quality, Laguna Water Laboratory Services processes more than 200 water samples from the distribution network per month. The samples are collected on a regular basis from strategically located sampling points all over the company’s service areas. This number of sampling points are adherent to the regulatory requirement and all results of the sampling have been consistently 100% compliant with the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW), five percent (5%) above the requirement.

On a monthly basis, Laguna Water reports the water quality testing results to the City and Municipal Health Offices of its service areas, as well as to the Provincial Health Office of Laguna.
